Once Krishna was being dressed as Radha by Srimati Radharani Herself! Everything was in order. Just the chunri was remaining. Krishna put on the chunri, struck a pose, and asked Radharani, "Look, now I have become complete Radha. Isn't it?"
Radharani softy murmured "Umm hmmm... No. Not entirely. This is just the external form of Radha. When You become complete Radha, then behind this smile of Yours will hide the tears of the pangs of Her separation. As of now, You still cannot claim to have Radha's heart and Her intense love for Krishna. If You are far away, then I am restless to be near You, and if You are near, then I fear separation from You, and that adds pain to My smile. Where is all that in this false Radha? You are without temptation hence You cannot understand this temptation of love. Radha is fluttering in love for Krishna. When You reach that state, You will become Radha. Sometimes I think how will You pay back the debt of My love."
Krishna says, "Yes Radhe! What You say is true. It will be difficult to pay back Your debt."
Radharani says, "Not difficult. But it is impossible. You are my eternal debtor and You'll remain one forever."
Krishna asks, "Is there any way of paying back the debt?"
Radharani softly says, "Yes there is."
"What is it Radhe," asks Krishna.
"Prema (love)," replies our Swamini Sri Radha.
She continues, "When You give up Your renounced heart and accept a heart as Radha, there will be nothing but parishudh prema (pure love) in the heart. Turbulence will rise in Your heart. When You will experience the joy in the pain and pain in the joy of this love, You will at once realise how You can repay the debt of my love.
"Sure Radhe! I will definitely pay back this debt," replies Krishna.
"When," asks Radharani.
Krishna says, "In Kali Yuga, I will descend as Krishna but with the heart of Radha!"
"I will really enjoy that. Like Radha, You will become a renouncer and roam around calling out to Krishna," happily exclaims Srimati Radharani.
"I will do just that. As Chaitanya, I will roam around Navadeep to Vrindavan, calling out Krishna's name so that I can experience the restlessness of Radha's love," replies Krishna.
It is very difficult to even think about Mahaprabhu's ecstatic prema. Very very difficult. Very difficult to even think about his heart.
Hare Krishna Mahamantra is the saar (conclusion) of prema given by Mahaprabhu. Today is Gaur Purnima. If Sriji and Mahaprabhu inspire you, try to read this inner meaning of Hare Krishna Mahamantra till bottom at any cost (in case you have not read it sentence by sentence). There's something really really confidential there.
Gaur Hari!! Nitai Gaur Hari Bol!! Gauranga!!
Jai Jai Shri Radhe!
P.S. Just happened to come across a clip where Radharani and Krishna talk about Krishna's appearance as Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. It is from a popular television serial "Krishna Lila" made by Ramanand Sagar Ji in the 90's. This article is derived from the beautiful conversation there.
